These are easy the steps in clipping shape (.shp) files in QGIS. You can follow these steps in any version of your QGIS application.
Step 2: Browse for your shape files.
For easy searching of .shp files, in the right corner of the file name, click the dropdown menu and select ESRI Shapefiles (*.shp). This will display all .shp file extensions in the window.
After importing, you will see your shape files overlapping each other.
Step 3: To start clipping your shape files, go to Vector>Geoprocessing Tools and select Clip.
Step 4: Next a small window will appear, you will have to identify which of your shape file will be clipped. Input Vector Layer is the upper layer of your clipping (the one you want to clip) and the Clip Layer is your base map. Browse and select the directory you want to save your new clipped file. Click OK.
Step 5: Remove or Hide the original shape file. This will display the your base shape including the clipped one.
You can do this to any file shape you want to clip.
